abuseEmail receives an IP address and tries to find out, using its internal whois and DNS clients, what is the responsible party's email address.

Web Demo

Philippe Bourcier of Cyberabuse.org created a web interface to abuseEmail. You can now try abuseEmail before installing it on your system. Pretty neat. The PHP script that make this run is also available.

abuseEmail v.1.1.2 [38 KB] ChangeLog | Manual page

GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2)

Net::DNS is needed with all versions of abuseEmail, you can get it at http://www.fuhr.org/~mfuhr/perldns/ or by typing install Net::DNS in cpan.

Older versions and CVS informations are available on the download page.

Type perldoc abuseEmail.pl for the man page, or can also see the man page in html.

A small FAQ is also available.

If you want to use the Blacklist and don't know regular expressions, check out this mini grep tutorial.

abuseEmail is open source, that means that it is free for all to use and improve. It has been made open source so that anyone can use it, even if they don't have much money. However, open source is more than that, it is a philosophy. A philosophy that encourage the share of knowledge and skills. In down to earth terms, this means that, if you want, you should try to give a bit back to abuseEmail.

This give back can be suggestions, corrections, new features, books or money. For everything that can be written in an email, sending me an email is the best thing to do. 8) For material things like books or money, it's a bit different. For books, you can take a look at my wish list. For money, I suggest using the PayPal service.

The paypal account is for me (Guillaume Filion) and any contributions will be used to improve the development of abuseEmail. Just click below to make you donation.

For those interested, PayPal charges me 2.9% + 30¢ for the transaction. So this means that the minimum donation is 31¢, actually, if you give 31¢, everything will go to PayPal. This also means that if you want to give a sizeable amount or you don't want to use the PayPal service, you may prefer to send me a check by postal mail. Make the check to Guillaume Filion, and just send it to 16 Charles-Couillard, Beaumont, Québec, Canada, G0R 1C0.

Thanks for your support!
